In North East Derbyshire is the village of Killamarsh, where a series of weird events unfolded ten years ago.
The house of Hazel and Gary, referred to as ‘Number 27’, is a real estate built in the early 1980s about what was once agricultural land. It is a typical house that at first glance seems completely normal and does not offer any indications for the events that took place in 2012. The prizes lived there with their daughter, Jemma, who moved to the University in Leeds in 2011 and their two cats.
One snowy on Thursday evening in February 2012, after his return of a night out in a local pub, the couple discovered a scene that would surprise them. Gary, who first entered the house, got a face that led him to believe that they had been broken into. Gary found their dining room in disorder. Hazel inside and discovered that their fruit bowl had been emptied on the table and three orange candles of a candlestick were broken in two and spread over the table, but the candlestick himself remained upright.
This astonishing scene made Hazel and Gary feel uncomfortable. It was wearing the characteristics of a classic poltergeistic experience, which is said to be entities that are able to manipulate physical objects to cause disruptions.
This was a time for camera telephones, so unfortunately the family did not take photos or videos of the strange event, but we have made some of the most important moments with AI based on the accounts of the couple.

The first thought that comes to mind is that the cats of prices could have caused chaos, but the family quickly rejects this theory, because the cats were not even in the house at the time of the incident. Moreover, the fruity bowl was low and sturdy, it is unlikely that a cat could not only disturb the bowl, but also the candles could break in such a way.
The theory of the involvement of their pets collapses when you consider what happened next. Gary decided to check the rest of their house and went upstairs. When entering their bedroom, Gary discovered that their quilt had been completely pulled through the bed. His research did not end there. When checking the room of his daughter Jemma, who had been left untouched since she moved to University in Leeds, he discovered that the bed was also stripped of his covers. This detail was particularly striking in view of the absence of Jemma and the non -use of the room, which excludes the possibility of a forgotten mess or a non -made bed as a cause.
In search of a statement, Hazel and Gary considered a connection with a recent tragedy in the workplace of Gary. A colleague named Dave had a fatal heart attack at work, an event that took place for about two weeks before the disturbances started at their house. Gary, who was the last person to speak and hold Dave before he passed, shared a moving moment when he mentally encouraged Dave in order not to fight the inevitable outcome of his condition. Hazel speculated that Dave might have been restless by Gary’s unspoken thoughts, which suggests that his mind may have been responsible for the incidents in their home.
The price family continued to experience events that tarted logical explanation. Such an incident took place during a seemingly ordinary family meeting to celebrate Jemma, Hazel and Gary Price’s daughter’s birthday. With Gary’s mother also present, the family settled in the living room.
While they were watching TV, a separate rattle interrupted the peace of the moment. The sound, clear and unmistakable, comes from a small object in the room, a Chinese rice wine, only three centimeters long and two centimeters in diameter, decorated with a cork and is empty on a unit. Gary, when turning to identify the source of the disruption, observed the vase that deals with an unusual dance that fluctuated from left to right as if he was moved by unseen forces.

Hazel confirmed the surreal nature of the event and noticed the absence of vibrations in the house that could explain the peculiar movement of the vase. This incident lasted only about 10 seconds, but left the family full of awe. Gary, despite his understanding of forces and vibrations, was a loss to rationalize the movement of the pot. He noted that there were no external vibrations, no heavy traffic nearby, and nothing else that such a deviation could explain. Moreover, nothing else vibrated in the living room.
The evening took an even more disturbing turn and added a personal and physical dimension to the inexplicable events that were so far limited to lifeless objects. While he was in the living room, Gary suddenly experienced a sharp pain on his leg, related to a cat crab. During inspection he discovered a line of blood that ran over his leg, despite the fact that their cats were not in at that time. Hazel revealed that this alarming experience was not an insulated incident. Gary was scratched again the next night and suggested a deliberate targeting that was both specific and repeated.
One evening, while Hazel went into the kitchen with Gary on the couch on the kitchen door, an unexpected flash took place when she opened the door. In that short moment, both Hazel and Gary witnessed a person’s silhouette. Described by Hazel as on an “old man” with a beard, the figure looked long and was sketched in white, decorated with some lay people as robes. This fleeting vision both left them reassured that they were not only in their experiences, but it contributed to the growing feeling of discomfort.

The idea of seeking help arose of course, with religious interventions such as house blessings that come to mind. Gary’s memory of the negative experience of his aunt Pamela with an exorcism performed by the diocese of Derby, however, hesitable them to pursue external help. The fear of social exile and the desire to prevent them from aggravating the situation led them to look for alternative solutions.
Gary is determined to tackle the disruptions on their own terms and conditions for guidance on the internet. He discovered the prayer of St. Michael, a traditional invocation that was used for protection against malignant and spiritual adversity. With Hazel Away, Gary took it to recite this prayer through their house, with all eight rooms plus the hall and the landing. His approach was one of peace and intention, aimed at blessing their home and signaling to all current entities that their actions were meant to not harm anyone.
This -self -ritual, equipped with sincerity and hope, marked a turning point for the prizes. Although the immediate effect was not as tangible as they had hoped, the absence of further disturbances in the following days was a relief. Nevertheless, Gary admits that the questions and the search for understanding persist, and acknowledge that some answers can remain elusive forever.
