The world has been quite preoccupied with the US presidential election, and we are now looking at the choice between a Republican candidate Donald Trumpwho wants to win again after losing four years ago, and Democrat Kamala Harristhe current vice president and unexpected nominee afterward President Joe Biden opted to end his re-election bid.
These two are both looking for the same office, but seem to be quite different.
What does their astrology say about them?
Donald Trump is a talkative Gemini Sun and expansive Sagittarius Moon
Donald Trump was born with the Sun in Gemini, Gemini, a curious Air sign and a mutable Mutable sign. Gemini is the sign of the mind, communication and keeping busy, and Trump loves to talk!
His Sun is conjunct, or aligned, with his Uranus in Gemini, and Uranus is the unconventional planet. Trump is not afraid to shake things up and break the rules and is comfortable with that.
His Sun and Uranus are also connected to his North Node, which shows a person’s potential and purpose. This gives him a strong ego (Sun), and he is meant to challenge the status quo in his own way.
His moon is in Sagittarius, a Fire sign, and Sagittarius is the adventurer, the traveler, the one who wanders. Trump doesn’t like to have too much silence in his life and gets bored easily.
Kamala Harris is a righteous Libra Sun and Fiery Aries Moon
Kamala Harris is also an Air sign with its Sun in Libra, the sign of relationships. It’s no surprise that part of her elevation comes from working with someone else — Joe Biden in this case — and that she can benefit from working with other people.
Yet her Moon is in fiery Aries, and Aries moons, especially women, are difficult to contain. She knows who she is and what she wants, and no one will stand in her way when she sets her mind to something.
She is strong in her beliefs and in her ability to argue for them. It’s very fitting that she was Attorney General of California, especially since Libra rules justice – she manifested her Sun and Moon quite well in that role!
Yet she also expresses it well as Vice-President. Finding that balance between collaboration and competition can serve her well.
Donald Trump and Kamala Harris were both born on a full moon
In a very strange and unusual twist, both Donald Trump and Kamala Harris were born on a Full Moon!
Full Moon people tend to have dynamic personalities, but this can translate into being absolutely loving or downright hateful. Everyone around them falls into one camp or the other, and there is rarely anyone who is lukewarm about them.
That should be interesting for two presidential candidates, and likely to arouse very strong passion among both their flock and their enemies.
Being born on a Full Moon means that a person’s Sun and Moon are opposite each other, which can be challenging on a personal level because the ego (Sun) and emotions (Moon) are at odds.
Trump is dynamic – but lacks practicality
Donald Trump is extra dynamic because not only was he born on a Full Moon, it was also a Lunar Eclipse! That makes the dynamic energy even stronger and makes the love-him-or-hate-him impact even greater.
Not only that, but he also has an anaretic Ascendant and Descendant. There are thirty degrees in each zodiac sign, and 29 is the last degree and is called the anaretic rank.
Meanwhile, the Ascendant and Descendant are two of the angles that connect to the main pillars of our lives. The Ascendant rules the self, while the Descendant rules others and our connections, and they are exactly opposite of each other.
People with an anaretic Ascendant-Descendant axis elicit strong responses from others and tend to have outwardly large personalities, although that may not relate to who they really are. In Trump’s case, because he was born on a Full Moon, it really depends on who he is!
He is definitely not someone who can go into the night quietly and needs a lot of attention.
He has no planets in his birth chart in earth signs, and when a person is missing an element, the main energy of that element is missing from his life and personality. With missing Drawing Earththis means missing the practical, being realistic and exercising restraint.
That suits his personality quite well, and he’s not someone anyone would call that practical. He lives in the big ideas of his Sagittarius Moon and doesn’t want to bring it back to earth.
Kamala Harris tests her karma – and that of the US
Kamala Harris has her natal Saturn late in Aquarius, and Saturn is known as the Lord of Karma. In our birth chart, Saturn reveals the life lessons we need to learn, and we may be continually beset by them until we learn them or suffer the consequences of continuing to avoid them.
Saturn is known as the disciplinarian and will not allow us to act irresponsibly, unethically, lax or haphazardly. Saturn wants us to be focused, mature and smart in what we do.
Saturn in Aquarius natives are people who must learn to step into their own individuality, embrace breaking social norms but in a disciplined way, and lean into the future. Saturn used to rule Aquarius, so while Saturn is traditional and stoic and Aquarius is unconventional and whimsical, he is strong in this sign.
Kamala Harris underwent her second Saturn return in February 2023, and this came while she was vice president. You experience a Saturn return when Saturn returns to the exact position it was in when you were born, and this can be a period of great progress or great struggle depending on how you have managed your Saturn lessons.
Considering how well she has been doing since her second Saturn Return, I think Saturn is pleased with her work on her lessons. If she can continue doing so, she can continue to reap the Saturn rewards.
But this isn’t just her karma – it’s US’s too, because in the US natal chart the US Moon is conjunct Kamala Harris’ Saturn! So there is a strong connection between her own karma and that of the US.
It is fitting that she would be the first woman of color to become a presidential candidate, and that she would be the first woman to become vice president. Is it also the intention that she will break some of the karma of the US?
The American natal moon in Aquarius has attracted us to people with Aquarius energy, and we tend to have presidents with Aquarius or Uranus prominent in their natal chart.
Donald Trump has an Aquarius Descendant and Uranus on his Sun and North Node, while Kamala Harris has her Saturn in Aquarius, and her Uranus is part of a stellium (conjunct her natal Pluto and Venus in Virgo; stelliums are concentrated energy).
The Mars-Uranus conjunction woke Trump up
In July there was an assassination attempt on Donald Trump, and this came with transit Mars and transit Uranus conjunct in Taurus. This is exactly the kind of aspect you would expect in that kind of event, since Mars is a planet of violence, and Uranus is the sudden and unexpected.
That conjunction took place right in Donald Trump’s natal Midheaven, one of the angles that determine one’s goals, ambitions, life path and direction and is the highest part of the chart. It’s no surprise that the energy focused on him.
But the conjunction between Mars and Uranus was also square, which is a challenging aspect, his natal Mars, and his natal Ascendant-Descendant wide square, so it illuminated all his angles. Remember that the angles are the pillars of our lives, so this aspect shook all its pillars.
The event probably had a much bigger impact on him than he would admit, in ways he wouldn’t want anyone to see. The square natal Mars challenged his sense of masculinity and strength, something that with Mars on the Ascendant he has likely invested a large part of his sense of self in.
Pluto in Capricorn challenges Kamala Harris
Kamala Harris has a lot of good astrology until transit Pluto moves back into Capricorn on September 1. When it does, it forms a broad square with her natal Sun in Libra and the Moon in Aries.
Pluto has been in Aquarius, and this brought some focus to her Saturn and some of that karma and lessons. Pluto moves back to Capricorn for one last hurray and will be in Capricorn until November 19.
Pluto at a hard angle to the natal Sun or Moon can be challenging on a very personal level, as the Sun rules the inner self and the Moon rules the emotional self. Hard Pluto can bring power struggles and control issues and likes to turn things upside down.
This will be strongest for her around the end of Pluto retrograde on October 11, leading into the election.
In the US, we generally don’t see the presidential election really improve until September (even though it was that long ago, ha), so it stands to reason that once that happens, it will be brutal. Harris is about to break many barriers if she were to win, and it won’t come easy.
Jupiter in Gemini gives both some luck
In another strange twist of fate, transit Jupiter in Gemini brings both Donald Trump and Kamala Harris some luck, as Gemini is Donald Trump’s Sun and North Node sign, and Gemini is Donald Trump’s Ascendant and North Node sign Kamala Harris is – yes, they are both Gemini North Nodes!
Jupiter in your Sun, Moon or Ascendant sign is usually a period of expansion, new experiences and exploration. It is seen as a happy, optimistic and happy period that is excellent for new beginnings, which could apply to both.
Jupiter in your North Node tends to push you forward in some way toward your destiny, your destiny, your karmic purpose, but this is positive rather than frightening. It seems like they were destined for this matchup.
They have a karmic, spiritual link thanks to their nodes, with his Gemini Sun on her North Node and her Gemini Ascendant on his North Node. When you have a nodal connection with someone, it shows a spiritual bond between you. They may not like each other, but this is a pairing that was probably always in the works.
Who will Jupiter bless with victory? We’ll know in November!
