Psychic and spiritual work is often done using tools, not just skills. This article explores the many different psychic and spiritual tools you can use to direct, enhance, or harness your psychic abilities. If you want to work with someone with paranormal or spiritual abilities, you may find that certain tools resonate with you and help you connect with the experience more successfully.
This article does not provide an exhaustive list, but will look at some of the most commonly used and generally effective tools for paranormal and spiritual work and experiences.
How a tool works
It may seem pretty obvious that we all need to know what a tool is and does, but sometimes it helps to get to the basics, just as a starting point. According to the Oxford Dictionary website, a tool is: a device or implement, especially one held in the hand, that is used to perform some function. In the case of psychic tools, they may or may not be hand-held, but they are designed to help focus psychic and spiritual energy on various functions.
Tarot/Oracle cards
Most tarot/oracle cards have no special spiritual or energetic charge; they are made of thin cardboard or thick paper with printed images on them and are mass-produced. A deck that is handmade and unique is a different story. But since most tarot/oracle cards are printed using digital art rendering and machines, they are basically inert.
Tarot/oracle cards can be read without any psychic or spiritual energy or intention. In short, they can be read psychologically rather than psychically. However, if someone with psychic or spiritual abilities chooses to do so, he or she can use the cards and the imposition of the cards as a way to focus psychic energy and convey a spiritual message.
Stones and crystals
Stones and crystals can be considered inert, but that is not really accurate. Stones and crystals have a field vibration that is based on the composition of the material or crystal matrix. The best known of this group is the crystal ball, which is usually made of clarified quartz. Black stones absorb psychic energy, while different colored stones and crystal matrices amplify certain types of psychic energy.
Amethyst is often used for psychic protection, while jade is useful for balancing energy. Green jasper can help against deception, and onyx absorbs and converts negative energy into positive energy. Wearing stones and crystals on rings, bracelets or necklaces is a common way to extract the psychic value from the stones.
Sound objects
Two of the most common sound objects are singing bowls and tuning forks. Each of these tools can help you enter a deep meditative state and “tune in” your psychic and spiritual energy. The most common singing bowls are made of metal and can be a mix of copper, gold, silver, lead, mercury, iron and tin. There are also crystal versions. Sound is produced by moving a wooden pestle along the edge of the bowl, creating a sonorous vibration.
Tuning forks are made of metal and can be used to release tension and balance your emotions. They tap into your psychic field through sound and can be especially effective if you are sensitive to sound. Tuning forks vary in size and create different frequencies for different applications in paranormal work.
Your palm
Palmistry is one of the oldest divination and paranormal practices in human history. Having your palm read by a skilled and knowledgeable practitioner can provide you with tremendous insight into your character, your soul path choices, and your intended goals in this life. Understanding and interpreting the lines on the palm involves much more than just technical ability to see the spiritual purpose.
Your entire body field (your aura)
In addition to your palm, your entire body radiates an energy signature, known as your aura. Your aura can be viewed using technology or by someone psychically gifted with auditory vision. There are even training techniques you can try to see if you can access the auditory visual field. As with most training processes involving psychic abilities, a good setting and relaxation/meditation are necessary to tap into your own psychic abilities.
Aura cameras
The auditory field is composed of colors and can be captured on film using a sensor pad on which you place your hand and which is connected to the aura camera. If you have aura photos taken at different times, you will see patterns in your aura, as well as colors specific to what is happening psychically for you at different times in our lives. My daughter’s mother had her picture taken before she was pregnant, while she was pregnant, and after she was pregnant. All three photos were astonishingly different.
Casting objects
Casting objects include runes, bones, dice, coins, yarrow stems, and tea leaves. The experienced psychic can concentrate and receive messages from cast objects by understanding and intuiting the arrangement of the cast objects on a surface. Sometimes the practitioner allows you to throw the objects, sometimes they are the only ones who can throw the objects. Coins and yarrow stems are specific to the I-Ching; all others align with the seeker and the practitioner.
Smell and flame
In addition to sound, smell and visual meditation, we can access psychic knowledge or do spiritual work for us. Frankincense is the most common way to invigorate our 6e feeling through smell. Various spices, flowers and herbs, when burned, release scents that allow us to act with greater spiritual focus or tap into paranormal messages. The energy of something burning is the catalyst to release the scent and use those scents to activate our psychic energy.
And the flame alone, burning on the wick of a candle or in a fireplace, can prove to be one of the most profound meditative and spiritual tools if we allow ourselves to ‘gaze into the flame’. Like a crystal ball, the burning flame is a way to direct our attention beyond the conscious noise of life and into the depths of unconsciousness and spiritual knowledge.
The right tool for the job
Do not use a hammer to drive a screw. Some tools will resonate with us, others will not. I bought my first tarot deck when I was 21 and they immediately ‘made sense’ to me. I’ve had Runes at different times and they just feel like rocks with carvings on them that have no spiritual or psychic meaning to me in this particular lifetime.
If you want to use these and other tools for yourself, allow some to work great for you, while others may be of no use to you at all. When you visit a practitioner who uses a particular tool, you want to be sure that you get positive and clear results because he/she is a master of their craft and the tool will help them give you the right psychological and spiritual guidance .
