Georgia Renshaw-Smith and her boyfriend Ross Cheeseman celebrated Georgia’s birthday at London’s Quaglino’s restaurant and happily photographed themselves on their phones taking selfies.
But when they started looking at the photos, they saw a creepy male figure in one of them, whose ribs and spine appeared to be visible. The figure appeared to be wearing a military uniform and his face was somehow distorted, pale and open-mouthed. And at eye level she had an incomprehensible black tape.
“I took one or two pictures, but my girlfriend didn’t like them, so I took another one. And in this photo, when we looked at it, you can see what looks like a ghost in the background. I think the ghostly figure resembles an ex-military with broad shoulders and a uniform,’ say Rose.
When they showed this photo to Georgia’s relatives, they initially thought they had just asked someone to stand there or done something else for fun. But then they looked at other photos on Ross’ phone and thought this one was real.
The time between photos was only a few seconds and the remaining photos did not show any strange people in military uniform.
“He looks like a translucent ghost as you can see his spine and ribs, and I think he has some kind of headband or headdress on his head.”
Since taking the photo in 2021, he claims family members are still dealing with it today and many online are sharing their amazement at capturing “the best ghost photo ever.”
“Later we showed this photo to the waiters and waitresses and asked if they had ever seen anything like it before. They were all scared.”
Ross says he doesn’t believe in ghosts, but considering it’s a fairly old restaurant, having been in business since 1929 and frequented by many people in that time, including celebrities and royalty, “it’s a pretty good place for a ghost . .”
“I’m not even sure I believe in ghosts, but when I show this photo to experts in the field and hear them say it’s the most compelling ghost photo they’ve ever seen, I definitely think, ‘what if?’
“At first I didn’t really know what to do with the photo because it was so good. I assumed people would think he was fake. That only happened when I showed people the work and they insisted I distribute it.
“Now I’m very happy that this photo is being seen by people, because it really needs to be seen. Could I have accidentally taken the best ghost photo ever? Who knows?”
The restaurant dates back to 1929 and is a favorite among famous A-listers and a range of royals. It hosted Judy Garland’s wedding reception in 1969 and has regularly hosted Prince Harry in recent years.
