Tamworth Castle, most haunted review
Looking very glamorous, Yvette Fielding opens the episode on a sunny day, with the city of Tamworth as the backdrop. She introduces the episode by telling the viewer about an entity that causes blindness and a woman who can be heard crying as she searches for her lost love.
Tamworth Castle has 800 years of history as a fortress and as a home. It was originally built for protection against the Danes and passed through several owners before the local council took over ownership. The council insured the property for £3,000. Richard Felixhistorian, tells about the battles at the site between the Saxons and the Vikings.
Yvette starts talking about the experiences workers have had, including figures seen out of the corner of their eyes, alarms going off in the middle of the night for no reason and doors opening and closing on their own. Two workers at the castle said they witnessed a blue mist approaching them, after which they felt a sharp pain in their heads and went blind. When they could see again, they saw a blue mist swirling around them and disappearing out the window.
On the second floor, a lady was seen looking out of the window in one of the bedrooms, crying on the battlements. You can then see her throw herself off the top. Richard believes this may have been one of the princesses who won the battles but died in 918.
Many people saw a woman on the stairs, probably a nun. A famous photo of her was taken in the 1940s. Male voices can also be heard, and numerous staff have seen apparitions and heard sounds around Tamworth Castle.
Phil Wyman spent the day doing all the usual basic tests, he also placed motion detectors and other gadgets including voice recorders in the most haunted areas in the hope of catching something.
When medium Derek Acorah arrives at Tamworth Castle and begins his wandering, he picks up the residual energy of a lady, who he then describes as a lady of the cloth, who was murdered. He also picks up a Sir Tarquin and says he wanders up and down and his footsteps will be heard often. He is interrupted by the sound of a door banging downstairs. Upon investigation, it appears that no one lives in the area who could have made the noise.
While on the stairs, Derek talks about manifestations appearing and Derek poses the same way the apparition would appear. He is given a name by his spirit guide Sam and the information appears at the bottom of the screen to verify the name. He also picks up a man who takes away people’s sight, the energy does this to worry people and Derek says he is not a nice person.
In another part of Tamworth Castle, Derek talks about one of the executioner’s swords. Richard confirms that there are these instruments in the building. Upon seeing the sword, Derek mentions the name of the executioner who used the sword and Richard says he will investigate the information, but the information appears on the screen saying they couldn’t find anyone with that name.
During the investigation, Karl, Yvette and Rick enter the haunted bedroom. They witness some orbs or anomalies of light passing through the camera. They may also hear sounds coming from outside the room on the stairs. They do have a camera on the stairs; the camera moves on its own, but the crew is unaware of this until they view the footage.
They sit down on the stairs when they hear a door close, which they think is the door at the bottom. While on the stairs, Rick says he feels like he’s being watched, and they hear what sounds like a woman crying.
The funniest part of this episode is when without warning the alarm goes off in the building and makes everyone jump out of their skin. The personnel must be called together with the fire brigade to investigate. The curator at Tamworth Castle says that when the alarm goes off it usually flashes on the device that has been activated, but they could not find which alarm went off and there were no faults in the system. This is where they end the episode, as they can’t go back into the castle until a full check is done.
It was a very interesting episode with activities that couldn’t be explained, such as the moving camera and the alarm going off for no reason.
