A new survey of 1,000 Americans shows that 37 percent of them believe aliens are secretly living among us in human form — and some even suspect their boss is one of them.
The fascination with and debate surrounding the existence of extraterrestrials is not new, as evidenced by reports of three-meter-long ‘aliens’ in Brazil, the debunked ‘alien’ corpses in Peru or the tourist board in Kentucky sending messages into space sends to invite aliens for a visit.
However, not everyone is convinced.
More than four in ten (41%) of those surveyed disagree with the idea that we could share our planet with beings from another world, while 22% are unsure.
The research was conducted by Talker Research Wealth from Geeks.coma website for science fiction fans and enthusiasts.
When asked who they thought could be an alien in disguise, 39% pointed to their current boss as a possible candidate, while a third named a certain celebrity as a potential non-human.
More than half of respondents (53%) said they believe in the existence of aliens, while 34% said they do not.
According to the results, men are slightly more likely than women to hold this belief (56% vs. 49%).
Michael Dinich, founder of WealthofGeeks.com, said: “The results show that many Americans are open to the possibility of extraterrestrial life.
“And it seems like some people are questioning whether their boss is really from this planet or not.
“Regardless of what people believe about aliens, it’s great to see many people enjoying the wonder of what could be, whether that’s through embracing extraterrestrial life or a love of all things science fiction .”
If aliens were to officially contact us, 43% of respondents said they would trust our current world leaders to represent Earth.
But if Earth needs new heroes, 42% say they believe they can negotiate peace if contacted personally by an alien race.
