What is numerology?
Numerology is the discovery (divination) of a person’s purpose, talent, personality, ideas, motivations and desires through the numbers associated with that individual at birth. In Pythagorean numerology, the ancient practice of ‘gematria’ is used to assign numbers to letters in the alphabet. Each letter not only has a sound, but also the corresponding number. The number for each letter is obtained by referring to a numerology chart. When multi-digit numbers are produced by adding letters, they are “reduced” to single digits by adding the individual digits in a multi-digit solution, EXCEPT for major numbers 11 and 22. Other major numbers are also sometimes recognized, such as 33, 44 and 55, depending on the numerology system used and the numerologist analyzing a numerology chart
Some people classify numerology as a ‘paranormal’ science. Some may even downplay its authenticity, but those who can get past this will reveal secrets to them that many people will never know. Decoding how numerology works
I once heard someone call Numerology a “bunch of hokey pokey woo wah.” Clearly, this person did not believe in the predictive power of numerology. But… you have to remember that everything in the universe, every being, every inanimate object follows the same mathematical principles as the cosmos. Everything has a certain energy frequency and it all harmonizes with each other in very predictable patterns. This applies to the smallest subatomic particle to the largest celestial body. This is why numerology works: it actually breaks things down to their most basic components.
Numerology works like science and is based on science, but must be accepted partly on faith. That’s because even the smartest mathematicians in the world today can’t figure out exactly how numerology works… but that’s the beauty of numerology. Please note that we will be using the Pythagorean number system and Pythagorean numerological principles. This is the most common numerology system in use today. However, you should be aware that there are other numerological systems used today and in the past. These include the Chaldean system, the Ajad system, the Gematria system and many more. Regardless of the numerology system used, it is the methodology that differs more than the basic concept of predicting knowledge from numbers.
Once you are hooked on numerology, you will naturally want to delve deeper into it. However, you can predict a lot by learning how to calculate the two most important numbers in your numerological birth chart. This will give you a better idea of who you are deep inside and what your potential destiny in this life may entail.
We use Hermione Granger, known from Harry Potter, as an example and to illustrate how it works. To calculate numbers on a numerology chart, you need to know the person’s exact date of birth and the full legal name printed on the birth certificate.
Hermione’s full name is Hermione Jean Granger.
Her birthday is September 19, 1979.
1. Life Path Number
The life path number is calculated solely based on the date of birth. You use the number that corresponds to the month. So in this example, Hermione’s date of birth in all digits is:
9, 19, 1979 (September is the 9th month)
Then we add all these numbers together:
9 + 1 + 9 + 1 + 9 + 7 + 9 = 45
45 is a two-digit number, so the next step is to reduce it to a one-digit number by adding the individual numbers together:
4 + 5 = 9
It’s probably no coincidence that the character JK Rowling created as Harry Potter’s close friend would have a life path number of 9! People with a life path number of 9 tend to be wise old souls who often seek large-scale humanitarian efforts. They are also often super smart. Sounds familiar?
The number 9 is also considered a highly evolved number in numerology, so again, it is true that Hermione Granger’s life path number is 9.
2. Soul’s Urge Number, also called Heart’s Desire Number
To calculate Hermione Granger’s Soul’s Urge Number, we must refer to her full legal name. We will also refer to the Pythagorean number system chart below, which shows what number each letter of the alphabet corresponds to.
For the Soul’s Urge Number, first determine the vowels in the name.
For Hermione Jean Granger the vowels would be:
eioe ea ae
Using the Pythagorean Number System Chart as a reference, you can first write down the corresponding numbers:
e = 5
I = 9
o = 6
a = 1
Then you add the corresponding numbers for all vowels:
5 + 9 + 6 + 5 + 5 + 1 + 1 + 5 = 37
37 is a two-digit number, so you need to reduce it by adding the individual digits:
3 + 7 = 10
10 is another two-digit number, so you need to reduce it again:
1 + 0 = 1.
So Hermione Granger’s soul urge number is 1, which isn’t surprising at all. She exhibits the key traits of someone with a Soul’s Urge Number of 1. She is clearly a born leader. She has a great ability to think outside the box and implement a plan that works! Final thoughts
