If you’re thinking of getting a reading with a psychic practitioner, there are a few things to think about before you book so you can get the most out of your experience.
What are you really looking for?
Why do you want a lecture? Is it just for fun or are you looking for some extra guidance at the moment? Hopefully each reading will be an enjoyable and fascinating experience. However, the reader will take it seriously, and even though you may enjoy reading it for a bit of fun, he may notice a little more than you expected or prepared for.
How do you choose your reader?

You can simply go to a local reader if they have a good reputation. It all depends on what we are looking for in a reading. Some psychics work like traditional fortune tellers, others work more like paranormal advisors and offer a more interactive experience. For example, some specialize in business lectures. Others specialize in medium-ship (readings about the dead) or they may focus on finding lost property or missing people, or they may specialize in animal communication (animal/pet whispering).
The reading you get depends on your chosen reader; their skills, their approach and their educational and employment background, all in addition to the extent of their psychic abilities or intuitive talent. It’s one thing to be psychic. Life knowledge is something else. The best readers have both, and it’s another to explain things clearly enough to help someone.
Many people still find readers through old-fashioned word of mouth, and this remains probably the most reliable way to find a good reader.
Does a reader have a website or online presence? Study this carefully. Do they use a real name? Take the time to read what they say before you message them or pick up the phone.
How do they explain their service? What do they do, and what don’t they do? Do they inspire confidence? When you contact them, are they professional, friendly and easy to talk to? Do they respond quickly by email, phone, text or whatever? Professional readers welcome questions, as long as they are genuine, serious questions and there should be no pressure or obligation to make a booking. Do not pay via PayPal unless there is proper contact information supporting the reader’s real identity.
Can you find reviews or testimonials on their web page or elsewhere? If they are new or don’t use the internet, they may not have any reviews. Even excellent readers can get the occasional negative review if they’ve been reading for some time. That’s pretty much expected due to the nature of the work they do, but if they’re getting a lot of negative reviews, you should proceed with caution. Start with the big picture. If you have any doubts, for your own peace of mind, please do not book.
Many readers will not read for customers under the age of 18 and in some states or countries this may be a legal requirement.
During the Lecture
A paranormal reading uses a different style of reading thinkin an attempt to shed new light on what is unclear or hidden.

Everyone wants good news. Nobody wants bad news. Please don’t shoot the messenger if you ask a question and you don’t like the answer. On the other hand, no responsible reader will ever scare you with dire predictions, especially ones you didn’t ask for, and if they do, they’re probably wrong. Likewise, if a reader suggests that you have been cursed or bewitched and that you need their help to lift the curse, don’t believe it. This is a scam.
The best questions are the ones that give us additional tools to work with. For example, you can ask questions starting with: –
‘What….?’
‘Where…?’
‘When…?’
‘Why…?’
‘How do I…?’
‘What if I…?’
The latter can be particularly informative as you weigh your options and explore the possibilities, weighing one course of action against another, for example:
“What happens if I do this?”
and/or
“What happens if I do this instead?”
This brings us to the prediction.
The problem with predicting
Prediction is a large part of the tradition of psychic reading. Prediction is not only fascinating, but can also be very helpful and even useful, as it provides a clear picture of the odds when we face a crossroads, or provides external validation and confirmation of our own deepest feelings, for example; Yes, this is going somewhere or no, it’s not.
If accurate predictions are carried out, they can save us a lot of wasted time, effort, heartache and even money. But there are a few things to keep in mind:
- A prediction could be flat out wrong or the timing could be way off. How long do we wait before we find out? Are we just sitting there twiddling our thumbs?
- A prediction can cause us to wait for something that has been predicted but may never happen. This takes away our power, putting us in a wait-and-see position, or it can steer us in a certain direction, forcing the issue so that the prediction becomes a self-fulfilling prophecy, when we might not have made that decision if we had had not heard. prediction.
- A prediction can worry or frighten us. Yes, we asked that question. But are we really sure we want the answer?
Some people move from reader to reader or keep asking the same question until they get the answer they want. This is of no use to anyone, neither the customer nor the reader. For some people it can even become an obsession. Not only can this prove to be very expensive, but it also undermines the main value of a lecture which:
- Gain more clarity, see things in a new light or from a fresh angle
- Support our planning and get a clearer picture of the probabilities of outcome A, B, C, etc. (whether we like the predicted outcome or not)
- Gain access to insights that help us move forward and free us from something that holds us down.
- Access insights and guidance that can provide support, comfort or peace regarding those major life events that we cannot change, for example; the death of a loved one.
Yes, the future is largely determined by luck – things beyond our direct personal control, like the weather. But we are active in our own lives, we are not objects through which things happen, and our future is shaped equally, if not more, by our actions, initiatives, choices and reactions.
It is more proactive and potentially useful to ask the reader questions such as:-
- Where is this situation going if I don’t do anything to change it?
- What do we see as the most likely outcome if I do A or B?
There’s still an element of prediction in that, but it doesn’t put us in a position of powerlessness, asking ourselves, ‘what’s going to happen to me?’
In summary
A psychic reading is an art, not a science, and is not a substitute for professional medical, legal or financial advice. A really good psychic reading can provide new insights and greater clarity and help us get a clearer picture of where we are going on our current path. It can identify our best options when our hearts disagree with our heads, or at a time when we struggle to see the forest for the trees, when we are too close to the problem to see it clearly.
- Do you think what the reader says makes sense?
- Does it feel good? Does it match your own feelings about the issue, even if you don’t like the answer?
If so, chances are that this reader is probably right, but it is up to you what use you decide to make of the reading, and whether you want to use that reader’s advice or not. Real readers expect to be right more often than they expect to be wrong. You can reasonably expect them to say things that are not only logical, but can only be of psychological origin, but that doesn’t mean they will always be right. They understand this very well, and any paranormal reader who says otherwise… you would be wise to give them a miss.
