As a director known for pushing boundaries and exploring the unconventional, Mark Christopher Lee has carved out a unique niche in the film world. His work often delves into the realms of the extraordinary, combining creativity with thought-provoking themes that challenge the status quo. From UFO sightings to paranormal activity, Mark’s work explores the intersection of cinema and the supernatural.
In this exclusive interview, we not only explore Mark’s filmmaking journey and his unique approach to these topics, but we also explore the general landscape of unexplained phenomena.
Jake: Starting with your background, how did you first get into filmmaking, and what inspired you to follow this path?
Marking: I started filmmaking because I wanted to tell the story of my band, the Pocket Gods. I’ve been a musician for over thirty years and the pocket gods have been going for 25 years and with our campaign for fairer royalties from Spotify, Guinness World Records and our £1m album – we thought it would make a good film.
I made the film Inspired The 30 Second Song Movie – which appears on the official YouTube Movie channel – but wanted to turn to UFOs and the paranormal for my next series of films, as this was my biggest passion besides music.
Jake: Is there a particular film that you worked on that you feel most connected to or are most proud of?
Marking: My latest movie The King OF UFOs Streaming now on Tubi in the US is the film I’m most proud of. It is the first with a budget thanks to winning the film pitching competition at the Raindance Film Festival, who produced the film and it was great to work with the famous Elliot Grove.
The film, in my opinion, tells a very good story about the little known passion that the British Royals had in UFOS – even the Queen who we discovered would send out her scientific advisors in the middle of the night to check out the latest crop circle formation! We were also contacted by former Canadian diver Dan Costello, who tells an extraordinary story about Prince Charles piloting an experimental UFO craft in 1975.
Jake: In your work you have extensively investigated the UFO phenomenon. What first sparked your interest in this topic?
Marking: As a child of the 1970s, I first became interested in UFOs and the paranormal after watching Arthur C Clarke’s Mysterious World Series on TV. I was surprised that this then coincided with the release of Unexplained magazine and I then started going to the library looking for books and information about UFOs – it’s not like today where we can pick up our phones and get instant access to the information we are looking for – back after that it took real effort and determination – two qualities that have served me well in the future!
The video below is from the new documentary The king of UFOs about the royal interest in UFOs and the paranormal. The film centers on the story that Prince Charles was one of three pilots who flew a prototype UFO craft in Canada in 1975.
Jake: During your research, have you come across any case studies or personal stories that particularly stood out to you or influenced you?
Marking: Through all my recent research, what has struck me most is the profound impact that UFO and alien experiences have on individuals – usually damaging – especially in terms of their mental health. It has also raised interesting questions for me, such as: are these mental health issues caused by the encounters or is a person’s mental health condition causing the experience? It’s something I’ll look into in the future.
Jake: Why do you think the UFO phenomenon has remained a mystery for so long, despite the growing body of evidence and witness accounts?
Marking: I think it has remained a mystery because there are people who control reality and control its release to the public – but they realize that the public cannot handle it. They would be able to handle the details of physical vehicles coming from other planets with other exotic life forms on them – but would the public be able to assume that this intelligence is something much stranger, like from another reality , dimension or even time? .
My studies have led me down this path – that life is much stranger than what takes place on this earthly plane. There is something beyond the physical realm and this realm sometimes overlaps with ours and produces paranormal and UFO phenomena.
Jake: As someone deeply involved in this subject, what would you say to skeptics who dismiss UFO sightings and reports as mere hoaxes or misunderstandings?
Marking: Okay, I’m a skeptic too! I have a science degree and always try to rationalize observations and to be honest a lot can be easily explained but there is always that nagging 2% of cases that just can’t be explained by conventional means and that’s what interests me. You have to be open to the fact that anything is possible, but how you prove something that is ethereal and intangible, I don’t know.
Jake: Do you believe there is a connection between UFO sightings and religion, or are you leaning more toward extraterrestrial explanations?
Marking: Yes, I believe there is a connection between UFO sightings and spiritual. I just don’t believe in the plausibility of beings on another planet somehow imposing a penalty on us in such a vast universe… How could they?
I think it is therefore more likely that the phenomenon is something else that may have always been here or comes from another plane of existence or dimension and that this has influenced our religions and spirituality. There’s definitely something more spiritual about it than just nuts and bolts from another planet. This could also tie in with life as a simulation controlled by a God somewhere. I have an open mind.
Jake: Have your personal views on the UFO phenomenon evolved over time, especially after interacting with researchers, witnesses and government officials?
Marking: My views have evolved over time and I think they will continue to do so. I’m also aware that it all takes a lot of time and a lot of people go crazy down this rabbit hole. It’s healthy to stay grounded and out in the real world – I guess there’s another reality out there, but we might as well enjoy our limited time and do good in this physical plain we’re in!
Jake: What do you think the future holds for UFO research and disclosure? Do you foresee a time when the truth about UFOs will become undeniable?
Marking: As for the future, I really don’t know – I suspect that there are private sector interests involved in the US regarding the truth about UFOs – that they want to somehow monetize and militarize this – some call it the deep state – I’m not sure if people like Trump or even RKF JR can engage them – they answer to no one. I hope enough good people will find the proof and release it to the world – if great interdimensional technology exists, it should be used for the benefit of all humanity, not just the US military.
Jake: Finally, what new projects related to the UFO phenomenon are you currently working on, and what can the public expect from you in the near future?
Marking: My latest film is about the British Roswell – Rendlesham where something landed on a NATO base in Great Britain in 1980. We investigated claims that strange activities are still taking place in that area, which resembles the Skinwalker Ranch in the US. We also brought our own equipment and captured strange, unexplained phenomena on camera, so we’re happy to share this evidence with the world!
We also have the legendary William B Davis (CSM of The X Files) narrating this film and he was great to work with! The truth is out there and we caught it on film!
Jake: Thanks Mark for your time.
