Psychoanalyst Carl Jung said, “Modern man cannot find God because he does not look low enough.” This is a profound truth for so many of us in the modern world who find ourselves completely separating our spiritual or magical lives from the rest of the day-to-day affairs. We need to attend a retreat on the other side of the world to connect with our spiritual centers; we view our time on the yoga or meditation mat as an oasis from ‘real life’. We often throw away these spiritual practices in times of stress when we need them most, prioritizing the material and ephemeral over the spiritual and eternal.
This dichotomy of the sacred and the mundane is exhausting and exhausting! We would be so much more energetic and resilient if we looked ‘low enough’ and discovered the potential for magic in every moment. The apparently material world is in reality pure infinite energy, and the ‘ordinary’ human mind is naturally capable of transforming the energy of All-That-Is at will. If you look closely, it won’t be long before you see some miraculous phenomena in your everyday environment; you just have to search to find.
Let’s explore some ways to develop a magical mindset so you can infuse your daily routines with supernatural energy.
Find the sacred in the mundane
Most of us have a to-do list of spiritual practices that we want to incorporate into our lives that we never make progress on because of our overly extensive schedules. But with a little intentional attention, you can find ways to turn these everyday activities into outlets for sacred practice. You don’t have to find time to add a new practice; you can find new ways to follow your current routines to maintain mental hygiene in a time-efficient manner.
For example, if you have a mindfulness Exercise in your life, but you haven’t been able to carve out time in your daily schedule, consider turning household chores into mindfulness meditations. As you wash the dishes, bring your full attention to your hands. Feel the water against your fingertips. Experience the feeling of the soap, the plate, the fork and your own body. Notice the temperature, the texture, the contrast, the weight and every sensation in your arms, legs, head and torso. If your mind wanders, bring your attention back to the feeling of washing the dishes.
If you want to practice positive focus or gratitudeConsider doing this exercise while you are driving or commuting. As you travel, look around you and note everything you appreciate: the color of the trees, a child’s smile, a fluffy dog, someone doing their job well, a clean train car, a well-functioning car, a fresh breeze, the warm sunshine, and so on. If you want to raise your frequency even higher, research Why you value every aspect of your experience. For example: “I really enjoy watching the postman deliver the mail; it is truly amazing how much organization and coordination goes into the postal system, and think of all the incredible benefits that system provides to people all over the world. How nice to see a responsible person bringing so much joy and convenience to others.” The more deeply we explore the reasons behind our appreciation, the more we anchor ourselves in a higher energy.
If you want to record more grounding To incorporate exercise into your routine, consider exercising outdoors, preferably barefoot. Go for a run on the beach or play barefoot soccer in the backyard. You can also take your coffee, lunch, book or meditation mat to a park or forest and take time to appreciate the profoundly stabilizing power of nature.
Reality is your mirror
Occultists define magic as the ability to alter states of consciousness at will. The world that appears around you is merely an extension of your mind and reflects in a very real way the contents of your psyche. So the ability to change consciousness at will is also the ability to change the world around us.
A very important step on the magical path is to establish your awareness of the mirroring that takes place between you and the world around you, for this awareness will root you firmly in your power. You should not simply assume that you are drawing your experience on blind faith; you have to test it yourself and see if it is true.
Choose an everyday object that you do not have a particularly strong emotion about or attachment to. It could be a feather, a giraffe, a spirit lamp, a blue pendant, a red triangle, etc. – a neutral object that has no special meaning to you, for better or worse.
In the morning, sit with a calm mind and imagine this object in your mind’s eye for a period of no more than five minutes. Try to keep it vivid in your mind, and make it very real to yourself. What color is it? What is the texture? Does it have a smell, a sound or a taste? Look at the object for five minutes every morning for a week. Don’t force this exercise, but have a sense of gentle, light-hearted curiosity. You test the power of your mind to influence reality, and it should be a carefree and fun game.
As you move through your day, gently remind yourself of this object. While you’re standing in line, you might find yourself saying, “red triangle!” While you are driving, you can call out to the giraffe. Once again, let this be a fun, playful exercise, without stress or need for results.
Soon you will see your object appearing around you in your life. It may appear on the bumper sticker of the car in front of you, or on your co-worker’s coffee mug. You may turn the page of a magazine and come across it, or a book may fall off the shelf and open to a story about this object. The longer you play this game, the more amazed you will be at the extent to which the universe can stretch to accommodate your powerful mind.
Your life may not be changed by the appearance of a red triangle or a giraffe, but you may have learned the most important lesson of your entire life: that you Are a wizard, and you are lord and master of your world. Once you have proven to yourself the power of your own mind by summoning an everyday object, you can turn your attention to summoning the objects of your heart’s desire.
