Hydromancy is a method of fortune telling, the practice of searching for knowledge of the future or the unknown through supernatural means. Just like other methods of fortune telling, it is sometimes also used by paranormal researchers as a method for spiritual communication. It is about the use of water to gain insights, predicting future events or receiving messages from the deceased.

This old practice has roots in many cultures and is rooted in the conviction that spirits and gods can communicate through the natural elements. In paranormal studies, hydromancy can be used in various ways to try to make contact with the spiritual empire or to discover hidden knowledge about a location or the spirits present.

In essence, hydromancy includes observing the appearance, movement and sound of water. Practitioners can interpret ripples, waves or the way in which objects move when they are placed in water as messages from the outside. Another method includes the drop of stones or other objects in water and interpreting the resulting patterns or sounds.

Perhaps the most common method used in paranormal studies is water scrying. The more often scryen includes staring in a mirror or reflective surface in the hope that a supernatural entity could influence what you see and that the vision of your face will change or transform into their own. The scrying with water is very on each other and means that a bowl of water is used as a visualization tool, so that the scryer can search for shapes and patterns on the surface of the water and the ripples.

Researchers can use this form of hydromancy to try to receive visual messages or instructions about the history of a spooky location or the spirits that live there. As an alternative, they can listen to the sounds of water in a so -called spooky river or more, where anomalies are interpreted as potential communication of spirits associated with the site.

Many paranormal researchers and enthusiasts are attracted to hydromancy because of its historical significance, where some believe that water serves as a guidance for spiritual energy, which helps spiritual communication.

Skeptics often quickly remind us that hydromancy, just like other forms of fortune telling, is very subjective and can be influenced by the expectations, beliefs or desires of the practitioner. Skeptics indicate that the human brain tends to find patterns and meanings, even where there are no existence, a phenomenon that is known as paridolia. This can lead to the wrong interpretation of random or natural events such as paranormal activity.

To increase the chances of obtaining more meaningful evidence, a session can be improved with the use of a video camera to capture any movements or deviations that occur during the session. This ensures further, more objective analysis after the session.

Due to subjectivity, it is unlikely that Hydromancy produces concrete evidence that skeptics demands, but as a traditional part of paranormal history, water as a medium for paranormal interaction is an interesting method to experiment with.

How to practice hydromancy on a paranormal examination

There are a few methods with water available for ghost hunters that are interested in experimenting with hydromancy. Below are three simple methods that you could try.

1. Water scry

To perform an experiment with water scrying, start filling a bowl with water and using it as a focus for visualization. Look in a vague illuminated room in the water, making your vision soft and remains open to images, symbols or patterns that appear on the surface or in the depth of the water. This method requires patience and an open mind, because it depends on the subtle interpretation of what is seen.

2. Water sounds

Another approach includes the use of the sounds of water. This can be the natural sounds of a current, more or rain in a spooky location, or it may mean that the sound of water that is poured back and forth between two containers in a quiet room. Audio recording equipment can be used to capture these sounds, which can later be analyzed for EPPs (electronic voice phenomena) or other auditory abnormalities that were not heard by the ear during the live session.

3. Droping objects in water

A more interactive form of hydromancy includes the drop of pebbles, crystals or other small objects in water and observing the formed patterns or ripples. This can be particularly interesting if specific questions are asked before each object is dropped, looking for answers or drawing in the resulting water movement. High-speed cameras can capture these moments in detail, making slow-motion review possible that can reveal unexpected patterns or reactions.
