On July 8, 2023, in the scenic mountain village of Le Vernet, France, a two-year-old boy named Emile Soleil disappeared after his parents left him in the care of his grandfather for the summer.
Despite an extensive police search throughout the area, the child was never found, either alive or dead. Because there were only 25 residents living in Le Vernet, every individual was interviewed by police, but the last confirmed sighting of Emile depicted him innocently strolling down the village’s only street, leaving his fate shrouded in mystery.
However, on March 30, 2024, a grim discovery was made when the missing child’s skeletal remains were found in a small field between the village church and another adjacent building, just a kilometer away from his grandfather’s home where he disappeared.
Surprisingly, a statement appeared in the British tabloid The sunwritten by 74-year-old Ed Dames, a former CIA psychic who allegedly participated in a clandestine program.
Dames claimed to have sent letters to French authorities in December 2023, indicating the location of Emile’s remains. In support of his claim, Dames provided email correspondence showing that he had identified the area as “located in or near a field,” which corresponded exactly with where Emile’s skeleton was ultimately recovered.
Despite Dames’ claims, it appears that authorities overlooked his reports, as the child’s remains were found by chance by an unknown passerby crossing the path next to the field.
The area was reportedly thoroughly investigated by law enforcement last summer, even deploying canine units, while locals regularly traversed the trail and loggers operated in the area during the fall. The sudden appearance of the bones raises suspicions of foul play, suggesting the possibility of tampering after the disappearance.
Dames claimed to have used a technique known as “remote viewing,” which was reportedly used during the Cold War by American and Russian psychics affiliated with government agencies to clandestinely gather intelligence on secret enemy military installations.
Dames expressed a sense of urgency and emphasized the speed with which he identified the location, confirming his previous involvement in the CIA’s defunct Special Paranormal Intelligence Unit, where he held the rank of major. By the way, the 2009 comedy film ‘Men Who Stare at Goats’ delves into the exploits of this unit, known in the Russian box office as ‘Mad Special Forces’.
Subsequent genetic analysis definitively linked the discovered remains to the missing Emile Soleil. Prevailing sentiment among locals rejects the idea that the toddler could have wandered in that direction without help, fueling suspicions of kidnapping and possible foul play.
In addition, the village of Le Vernet has been plagued by an unusual number of violent deaths in recent years, including the owner of a local cafe in 2008 and the tragic crash of an Airbus A320 in the immediate area in 2015, which killed 150 people. These events have led some residents to believe there is a curse on their community, heightening the air of mystery surrounding Emile’s tragic demise and the circumstances that led to it.
