Each sign is ruled by an element and expresses itself with a quality. These combinations create twelve different expressions that certain climates and geography will appreciate. There are five climates: tropical, arid, temperate, continental and polar. And there are two general geographic features: water bodies and landforms. This article explores which signs would prefer to live where in terms of Earth’s climate and geography.
Climates
From SciJinks.gov
Today, climate scientists divide the Earth into about five main types of climates. They are:
A: Tropical. In this hot and humid zone, average temperatures are above 60°F (18°C) all year round and rainfall exceeds 23 inches (59 centimeters) each year.
B: Dry. These climate zones are so dry because moisture evaporates quickly from the air and very little precipitation falls.
C: Moderate. In this zone there are usually warm and humid summers with thunderstorms and mild winters.
D. Continental. These regions have warm to cool summers and very cold winters. In winter, this zone can experience snowstorms, strong winds and very cold temperatures, sometimes below -30°C!
E: Polar. It is extremely cold in the polar climate zones. Even in summer, the temperature here never exceeds 10°C!
Geographical features
From lisbdnet.com
Geographic features are defined as natural and man-made resources found on the Earth’s surface. A geographic feature is anything you find outdoors, such as a body of water, land formation, or even an artificial structure such as a building or a road. Some well-known examples of geographic features include:
- Water bodies
- Landform
- Man-made structures
This article contains only natural examples.
Water bodies
These include:
- Washbasins
- Oceans
- Seas
- Lakes
- River systems
- Wetlands
- Waterfalls
Landforms
These include:
- Mountains and foothills
- Coasts
- Plateaus
- Mesas
- Valleys
- Plains
- Deserts
- Canyons
- Rainforests
- Forests
And the best climate and geography for your zodiac sign is…
Aries – Dry/Desert
Aries is the cardinal fire sign, so it should come as no surprise that they prefer warm, even hot climates and potentially dangerous terrain. Desert landscapes and climates appeal to their Spartan nature, where the question of survival is a constant part of life.
Taurus – Temperate/plains near forests
Taurus is the fixed earth sign, which will prefer to settle where they can grow food and build farms. A temperate climate is best for growing food, and the plains provide the best agricultural land. Being near a forest gives them additional resources that allow them to build houses with natural resources and earn a living.
Gemini – Continental/Mountains and foothills
Gemini is the mutable air sign, and they will prefer variety, which the geography of the mountains and foothills will certainly provide. As an air sign, they enjoy being close to the sky when hiking to the top of the mountains. They can also enjoy colder climates and could be one of the signs that they could also find a way to live in an Arctic region, if they are so inclined.
Cancer – Tropical/lake or river systems
Cancer is the cardinal water sign and prefers to be wherever life flourishes and the climate is humid. Being near water is a must, so lakes and rivers full of fish in the water and wildlife drawn to the water source are ideal for them. They love to cherish the living world, so the richest environments, those close to the equator, will appeal to them most.
Leo – Temperate/valleys
Leo is the fixed fire sign and wants to be sure where most people gather. Therefore, they will be strongly attracted to temperate climates and valley landforms. These two sweet spots in terms of climate and geographic features are sure to attract the most human interactivity and commerce, which will give a Leo plenty of opportunities to lead, perform, and compete.
Virgo – Temperate/plains near lakes or river systems
Virgo is the mutable earth sign and, like all earth signs, will prefer to be where food production and trade can flourish. Honestly, this sign is the most adaptable and can live in any climate and on any landform. They will enjoy the inland waterways the most.
Libra – Temperate/valleys, coasts, river systems and oceans
Libra is the cardinal air sign and prefers to interact with people almost as much as Leo does. Therefore, the climate and geographical features are the same. Their motivations are different, as this sign rules legal matters, making them a sign that wants climate and geography to support the hearts of civilization, which will be the most fertile areas with commercial access, i.e. river systems and oceans.
Scorpio – Tropical or polar/coasts, oceans and seas
Scorpio is the fixed water sign and can handle extremes. Wherever there are the most challenging places to live, based on climate and geographic features, a Scorpio can make a home. As a water sign, they will prefer to be near water, but with Pluto as ruler, the deeper and more expansive the water, the better, hence the call of the ocean and the seas will sing in their hearts .
Sagittarius – Everywhere
Sagittarius is the mutable fire sign and explorer of the zodiac. So there is no climate or geographical feature they won’t enjoy. Really, any combination will work for this sign, but probably only for a short period of time. After all, they have to experience them all before they die.
Capricorn Temperate and continental/any landform, river systems and oceans
Capricorn is the cardinal earth sign and will prefer to be where trade takes place, so river systems and coastal areas will dominate across the full range of climates, but especially in the temperate and continental climates, where most people live; and industry can develop above agriculture.
Aquarius – Any climate/plateau, mountains and foothills, and Mesas
Aquarius is the fixed air sign and will enjoy being ‘high’ when it comes to geographical features. They can enjoy any climate, but probably prefer the continental region, where they tend towards colder rather than warmer temperatures.
Fish – tropical/coasts, wetlands, oceans and seas
Pisces is the mutable water sign, ruled by Neptune, so the oceans and seas will attract them. Like Cancer, they prefer areas full of life, so hot and humid areas will work for them too. Being changeable, they can adapt to almost any region, but the water connection will be essential.
