A group of Houma high school graduates had quite a scare in the woods of Natchitoches Parish, but officers made sure they got out safely, reports The city conversation.
A group of graduates had traveled to the Kisatchie National Forest to camp about a mile off the Backbone Trail in the southern part of the parish near the communities of Derry and Gorum. They planned to camp in the area, according to a Facebook post from the Natchitoches Parish Sheriff’s Office.
But someone from the group, all 17 to 18 years old, called 911 around 9:20 PM on Friday. The caller was scared, reads the press release.
The caller asked for help “because they reportedly heard a growl and saw an animal that had glowing eyes and was approximately five feet tall.”
Two officers were dispatched to the area “and began walking toward the campsite looking for any suspicious activity or glowing eyes,” it said.
The group whistled for the deputies, who found them all safe.
But as the post stated, it could have been Bigfoot or a bear, so they escorted the entire group out of the woods. Officers found nothing growling and no glowing eyes, it said.
