An all-new series explores the veracity behind personal stories of extraterrestrial experiences Extraterrestrial Encounters: Fact or Fiction premieres Wednesday, June 19 at 10pm ET/PT on Discovery Channel and Max.
With more and more reports of UAPs (unexplained aerial phenomena), UFO experts Mitch Horowitz and Chrissy Newton use scientific data and research to parse real-life encounters with alien activity and determine whether or not they can be explained.
Horowitz and Newton station themselves at a local watering hole in Roswell, New Mexico, a town notorious for its UFO past, and meet people who have experienced strange and unexplained encounters.
After listening to each story firsthand, the duo uses the latest intelligence, technology and tools to investigate the reported activity. Using newly released UFO documents, databases and more, the pair carefully analyzes the visual and physical evidence to separate fact from fiction.
They will then make a final judgment on whether each individual experience has a verifiable explanation, or whether they believe it to be a real alien encounter.
“Extraterrestrial encounters: fact or fiction is a fun and exciting addition to our Wednesday night lineup, taking viewers on a journey that is out of this world, with great reward,” said Howard Lee, Chairman of Discovery Networks.
“As audiences listen to these intimate encounters, they can judge for themselves what they believe before our experts weigh in on facts. It combines the thrill of the unknown with a hunt for evidence, while satisfying the thirst for knowledge.”
In the first episode, Mitch Horowitz and Chrissy Newton meet a California farming couple who believe they have captured video evidence proving the afterlife is real.
Then a geologist thinks he may have unearthed the most important piece of evidence ever from a UFO crash site, leaving even the experts speechless.
Finally, they speak to a mother struggling to make sense of a harrowing UFO encounter that she believes caused her neurological damage and left radiation burns on her body.
