Aerial visitors to Chaco Canyon

In 1972, a group of hikers in New Mexico discovered an unusual artifact and pictographs in a canyon. An archaeologist from the University of New Mexico analyzed the artifact and searched the area where it was discovered, but found no signs that a prehistoric culture had established a site in the canyon. It was believed that a nomadic Native American tribe had occasionally used the canyon as a temporary settlement and as a result left behind the artifacts of their presence.
