Numerology is the study of numbers as meaningful constructs related to human consciousness. Numbers shape our lives in many ways, starting with number values associated with the letters of words, especially our names, and dates of birth… for people, events and companies.
We have the numbers for our birthday, month and year. Most countries have a number range for citizens (in the United States this is the 9-digit Social Security Number or SSN). Most of us have a telephone number; When we drive a car, we have a license plate. Each word and set of numbers is reduced to a number between 1 and 9, and each of those numbers has a spiritual meaning.
Your individual number supplemented with your partner’s number forms your couple number. This article talks about the couple number and its dynamics with your individual numbers.
Your individual numbers
There are two important individual numbers that make up your Soul Purpose Number, your Life Path Number and your Destiny Number. Your life path number is the sum of your date of birth reduced to one digit. Your destination number is the total of your full name on the birth certificate, reduced to one digit.
For simplicity, we will use my date of birth, 04/12/1968, which totals 31, which equates to a 4 to get my life path number. And we will only use my first name as our “full” name, Philip.
Pythagorean calculation
P | H | I | L | I | P | ||
7 | 8 | 9 | 3 | 9 | 7 | = 43 | = 7 |
So my Soul Purpose number is 7 + 4 = 11/2. 11 is a master number, the 1 (self) doubled, and 2 is the partnership number.
Now let’s create a partner with birth date 10/22/1963, which is a total of 24, which equates to a 6. We’ll use the “full” name, Riley:
R | I | L | E | Y | |||
9 | 9 | 3 | 5 | 7 | = 33 | = 6 |
So the Soul Purpose number for Riley is 6 + 6 = 12 = 3.
Our pairing number is 2 + 3 = 5.
The pair numbers
Number 1
If your couple number is 1, you put your “couple”-ness first. Ever heard of DINKs? It is an acronym for Dual Income No Kids. The 1 couple prefers to go their own way and is independent of the “world” and culture of the couple. This can be an interesting number to have as a couple if your individual numbers are social (2, 4, 6 and 9).
Number 2
If your couple number is 2, then you are the couple of the couple. 2 is the energy for partnership. The pair are really enjoying the benefits and work of working together. Together they can really function as a team. This can be an interesting number to have as a couple if your individual numbers are individualistic (3, 5, 7 and 8).
Number 3
If your couple number is 3, then you enjoy creating together. The trio gets so much more done together than alone, regardless of the individual numbers. This is not just about the creative energy and output, but also about the hard work that goes into creating. Always looking for a new project and new opportunities, this couple only rests while sleeping.
Number 4
If your couple number is 4, then as a couple you are the foundation of society. Truly the best number for a family as this number is all about stability, security, building lasting results and consistency. This couple supports others; they have the house where others gather. Children are ‘their children’ just by being around them.
Number 5
If your couple number is 5, you want to go on an adventure together. This song is all about change, exploration and transformation. A couple of 5 are ‘on the go’ and will enjoy a life traveling, having new experiences and trying different activities that they wouldn’t choose based on their individual numbers (unless one of them is a 5, and the other happens to be a 9 ).
Number 6
If your couple is number 6, you enjoy serving and teaching together. Another really good song for families, especially the larger families or the community as a family. People will be attracted to your ability to help them with practical problems and you will enjoy being involved in the activities that support the community.
Number 7
If your couple number is 7, then you are the mystical and spiritual couple. Individually you may be very practical (a 4/3 or 6/1 combination), but when you pulse the energy of a spiritual couple together, as soulmates, or a couple that activates spiritual energy, you can discover together and help others discover.
Number 8
If your couple number is 8, then you are the ‘power couple’. This combination implies status, recognition and leadership. You are the couple that other couples look to to measure success. Individually you may be the supporting energy for other areas of life (a 4/4 combination), but together you become the couple others look to when they need to know what to do and how to do it.
Number 9
If your pairing number is 9, you are the guiding pair, which you should always do together unless you are both an individual 9 (9 + 9 = 18 = 9). Your couple’s taste or counseling style will depend on your individual numbers. An 8 and 1 will be great when it comes to advice on leadership and individuality, while a 7 and 2 would be most helpful when it comes to spiritual matters and partnership issues.
Number 11/2
If you happen to be a 2/9, 3/8, 4/7 or 5/6 combination, then you have a master number 11 for your match total, which goes down to a 2. This can be quite powerful because the 11 represents the authentic individual and the 2 represents the partner. People will see you as bright individuals and a powerful couple.
The pairing number and your individual number
As you can see in some of the examples above, the individual numbers that make up the pairing number influence the pairing number in certain ways. Conversely, the couple number also influences your individual number, which can make being the couple supportive or even challenging.
Take the most fundamental combination, the 2nd pair of 1 individual + another 1 individual. There can be significant pressure on one or both individuals because their natural soul purpose is to be individualistic, but when together they must embrace partnership. Working with this number of couples may require certain periods of time apart so that the “couple” aspect does not stifle the individual aspect.
Knowing your couple number can help you understand the nature of your energetic relationship through the power of numerology.
