A recently published annual report sheds light on the extensive research into UFO sightings undertaken by the AARO. According to Sean Kirkpatrick, the director of the Pentagon’s All-domain Anomaly Resolution Office, researchers have been actively investigating about 800 sightings as of April this year.
In addition, the agency has a new report showing that 291 new reports of unidentified aerial phenomena were received between August 31, 2022 and April 30, 2023:
“Most reports continue to reflect a preference for restricted military airspace, a result of reporting from military personnel and sensors present in such areas. This bias has been reduced by reporting from commercial pilots showing a more diverse geographic distribution of UAP sightings in the US.”
The report adds that no health-related reports have been made in connection with the sightings.
“…many reports from military witnesses indicate possible flight safety concerns, and there are some cases where reported UAP may have exhibited one or more performance characteristics, such as high-speed travel or unusual maneuverability.”
In a interview Speaking to CNN, Kirkpatrick said that while most of them may have common, mundane explanations, some could be signs of foreign intervention.
“There are some indicators that are worrying that can be attributed to foreign activities, and we are investigating them very hard,” he said, adding: “[we are] we’re looking at some very interesting indicators of things, and that’s about all I can tell you.
“It could easily be a foreign entity. It could be a hobbyist. It could be anyone.”
“And those are the things we need to look at.”
According to the report, only “a very small percentage” of observations have “interesting” features, such as high-speed travel or “unknown morphologies.”
