There are many forms of fortune telling. The “Big Three” are astrology, tarot/oracle cards and numerology. Also known are palmistry, I-Ching, channeling and mediumship. However, this article will explore and briefly describe unusual forms of fortune telling that you may find interesting to discover and investigate. They will be arranged alphabetically, and the list is surprisingly long, even if it is not exhaustive. Therefore, it will be presented in a series of articles.
What is Divination?
The dictionary definition of the word divination is: “the practice of seeking knowledge of the future or the unknown by supernatural means.” In contemporary times, divination has expanded into spiritual insight about the self and circumstances, with less emphasis on predicting the future. The techniques and tools below show the many different ways in which divination can be practiced, whether you are trying to see into the future or into your own soul.
Chirognomy
Chirognomy is a form of hand divination, just like palm reading. However, the fortune telling is based on the shape of the hand, the length of the fingers and other factors unrelated to the lines in the palm.
Some readers take a holistic approach and study the entire hand for information, including the lines. They also look at the way the hand spreads, the back of the hand, but also the inside of the hand, and the shape of the nails and all its parts (cuticle, lunula and eponychium).
Chiromancy
Palmistry is the “Fancy Nancy” term for the most famous form of palmistry, reading the lines in the palm of the hand. In more recent times, the holistic approach has gained ground, and you will likely find that palm readers use both chirognomy and chiromancy techniques.
Cledonomancy
Cledonomancy involves hearing “synchronistically,” when words, sounds, or music (especially lyrics) bring about a sudden insight or help you recognize a divine message. This practice should not be confused with clairaudience (receiving divine messages from the mind). Someone who is a cledonomacer hears something spoken by a person, heard from the television or radio and understands that an important message is being offered at that moment of consciousness.
Cledonism belongs to a class within Apantomancy, namely seeing/hearing signs of gods, goddesses and spirits.
Conchomance
Conhomancy is divination with the help of shells. You perform this skill by placing a seashell on your ear and analyzing the sounds. A practitioner may have several shells, one of which a client would select to answer his or her question. The practitioner listened to the sound of the shell and relayed the answer to the client.
Dactylomania
Dactylomania is a form of divination using a ring, preferably one worn by the client. The ring is given to the practitioner, who attaches it to a string and can use it in the same way as a pendulum. The client can ask a question and the movement of the ring gives the answer. In another practice form, the ring is perfectly round and can be rolled over a row of letters to provide an answer. The metal of which the ring is made is also important.

Dobutsu Uranai
Dobutsu Uranai is a modern Japanese animal horoscope that uses your date of birth to determine which of the 12 animals represents you. They are: lion, sheep, koala, panther, wolf, cheetah, monkey, tiger, Pegasus, elephant, raccoon and fawn. The animals fall into four groups: new moon, full moon, earth and sun. And they are associated with six colors: red, blue, brown, orange, purple and black.
Domino fortune telling
Domino Divination uses numbers from the dominoes to convey a divine message. Mix the dominoes in a bowl or bag and take one out. Place the domino so that you are looking at it horizontally. Like a tarot card, it matters whether you draw the 1|4 tile and place it as 1|4 or 4|1. There are numerous sites on the Internet that offer clues and interpretations. You may need to explore several to find out which method and interpretations work best for you.

Geomancy
Geomancy is a form of divination with a few different variations. One involves reading markings on the ground left by animals or made randomly by some act of nature. Another version implies that you get the feeling of a place where you can build a house. And the latter is a medieval casting method that is rather complex, but was used intensively for hundreds of years.
Graphology
Graphology has a more modern name: handwriting analysis. Handwriting analysis is a psychological technique based on behavioral analysis based on handwriting patterns in a large data pool. Graphology, like other forms of divination, uses a psychic rather than a scientific approach.
