Dear friends,
There’s a thrilling New Moon Eclipse at the last degree of Aries this Thursday, April 20, 2023 at 12:19 AM in the chart cast for Washington, DC. It’s the second Aries New Moon this year — a rare occurrence in itself, and furthermore, it is (oddly) NOT in the same sign as the Nodes of Fate. The Nodes are in the early degrees of Scorpio and Taurus, so the North Node to New Moon conjunction still works, across a bridge.
Think back to what happened in April 2004, April 1985, and April 1966. What chapters opened and closed for you then? Now it’s time to welcome in the next phase of THAT evolution.
In the chart cast for Washington, DC (the chart that rules the whole of the US, because our nation’s capital is there) we find Sagittarius rising and the Sun and Moon (along with Jupiter and Eris) in the Fourth House of foundations. It’s an active, explosive, and paradigm-shifting chart across the world; but for those of us in the US, its ramifications are likely to be extra dramatic.
The Eclipse degrees are conjunct natal planets and angles of many of our more-prominent political leaders, including Mitch McConnell, Dianne Feinstein, Nancy Pelosi, Kamala Harris, Clarence Thomas, Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez, and Joe Biden.
Anticipate a shakeup in the balance of power: this is the first Eclipse to happen while Pluto is in Aquarius. The God of Power has just transitioned from the sign of structure (Capricorn) to the sign of the people! Take a good hard look at the structures that govern your own life. What changes might help you feel more free? How could you lean into THAT?
Things fall apart under aspects like these. Take care with those elements of your life that you *don’t* wish to release. The news is distracting (especially with Mercury getting ready to station) but you’ll want your nose to the grindstone, focus on what is truly your business. Venus out-of-bounds in Gemini makes it a great time for writing or connecting in conversation with people that you love.
