It’s a new year and with it comes an opportunity to cultivate new habits. As this next twelve-month cycle begins, we are presented with a clean slate to start over – new year fads aside. If there are unhelpful behaviors or beliefs you want to abandon in 2024, there is no better time to do so. This year’s astrology is here to shake things up, but it’s up to us to channel its momentum constructively. Remember: you don’t have to become a new you overnight. In case you need some inspiration, we’ve rounded up six things you can do to support your healing and growth in 2025. Here’s to more positive change, abundance and community care this year.
6 rituals that will enrich your life this year
1. Meditate
Meditation is the practice of silencing the louder voices of your ego so that you can tap into a state of increased calm, inspiration, and wisdom. And there is no one right way to do that. Some people meditate by silencing their thoughts. Some by dancing to loud music. And others through guided visualizations. If the latter piques your interest, check out our library of guided meditations in the CHANI app. With meditation topics ranging from fun to boundaries to friendship, there’s something for every mood and need.
2. Rooting in the present
The more rooted we are in the present moment, the more connected we are to our agency and possibilities. One of the best ways to tap into the here and now is to connect with our senses. This allows us to take in the physical world around us and remind ourselves that we are part of the larger landscape. You can do this by watching the morning dew glisten on a tree branch, breathing in the fragrant steam from your afternoon tea, or scratching a pet friend’s head. To help ground your busy mind, sprinkle intentional sensory activities throughout the day. Even if you just take three deep breaths on the subway, your nervous system will thank you. As you absorb life slowly, the magic intensifies all around you. Test it out.
3. Journalizing
Journaling is essentially creating a dialogue between you and the diverse cast of characters that live in your psyche. Think of the wounded inner child, the hopeless romantic, the daring creator, the fierce fighter or the stabilizing, grounded adult. By writing to these different parts of yourself, you build self-awareness about your patterns and behavior. And as you become alert to the different strategies these selves use to meet their core needs, you can work with them in more beneficial ways. Not sure where to start? Go to the ‘This Week’ section of the app and click on your diary prompts. They are updated every week and are specifically tailored to the ways in which current astrology interacts with your unique birth chart. Repeat after us: Dear diary…
4. Build better sleep habits
Getting enough relaxation and a good night’s sleep in a world of non-stop news and endless to-dos is nothing short of revolutionary. Still, it is an important piece of the puzzle. Good sleep reduces anxiety, improves your mood, increases mental energy and strengthens your immune system – all we need in 2025, right? If you’re having trouble shutting off your thoughts at the end of the day, despite your best efforts to go to bed early or step away from the TV, try adding a new step to your wind-down routine: storytelling . We recently launched a series of seven 40-minute sleep stories narrated by Chani Nicholas that will help you decompress, connect with the cosmos, and calm your mind. To de-stress and fall asleep, go to the Listen tab of the app.
5. Reciting affirmations
Affirmations are powerful tools that can transform idle thinking and prepare you for abundance. You can use them to reframe negative thoughts that you want to change, or to strengthen your hopes and beliefs. To do this, simply rewrite your negative scripts as positive statements or boldly state your best-case scenarios. An example of a thought you might want to change might be, “I’m not creative enough to share my work with an audience.” Rewritten as an affirmation, that sentence becomes: “My creativity is an expression of the generativity of life, regardless of the end result. When I share it with others, I offer them a blessing.” If you need more examples, open your CHANI app – we upload new written affirmations every week focused on healing and expansion. Or view our deck attachmentdesigned to spark new thoughts, spark ideas and support you on your mindfulness journey.
6. Healing your belief systems
If believing in abundance is a challenge, then this one is for you. To boost your imagination and fuel your confidence in what is possible, start regularly visualizing your ideal results – in detail. This might mean writing a letter to your future self, creating a mind map of your loftiest goals, or putting together the experiences, relationships, and transformations you want to bring about in your life. Whatever you choose to do, make the intention to regularly expand your thinking beyond your basic expectations. And remember: this is not an exercise in light-hearted fantasy; it is a way to productively renew your way of thinking. After all, before you can take tangible actions to create something in the world, you have to be able to conceptualize it. So dream big and center your desires in your daily life – you can never have too many reminders of the good things to come.
